Position Overview
We are seeking an Associate Broadcast Engineer to join our growing team. This role involves both in-office and fieldwork, with significant travel (14 nights per month) to client sites. The ideal candidate will assist in the design, installation, and maintenance of broadcast facilities, including RF transmission systems, AoIP networking, and IT infrastructure. You will interact directly with clients, ensuring high-quality service and technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot AM/FM broadcast facilities, including RF transmission systems, remote control systems, broadcast studios, and related infrastructure.
- Work with Audio-over-IP (AoIP) systems, including Axia and Wheatstone.
- Assist in the configuration and deployment of IT networks and Cisco-based infrastructure.
- Design and document broadcast system layouts using Visio and SmartDraw documentation tools.
- Participate in client meetings to assess needs and provide technical solutions.
- Provide remote and on-site support for system installations and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with senior engineers on system integration projects.
- Work as part of a team by seeking support when needed and providing support to team members.
- Stay updated on industry advancements and best practices through continuing education and participation in company-wide training.
- Travel via air and company truck (on average 14 nights per month) for on site engagements.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Engineering, Electronics, IT, or a related technical field; Technical School graduates also considered.
- Experience: 2-5 years in a technical broadcast role, or relevant IT/AoIP experience.
- Systems Knowledge:
- Broadcast Facilities – AM/FM transmission and studio environments.
- AoIP Systems – Axia, Wheatstone, or similar.
- IT Networking – Cisco networking fundamentals, VLANs, and IP configuration.
- Design Tools – Experience with Visio and/or SmartDraw documentation a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills in both hardware and software environments.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and client communication skills.
- SBE Certification and/or membership is a plus.
- Ability to lift equipment as needed (70 lbs).
- Proficiency with Google Workspaces (Gmail, Google Drive, etc.), HubSpot Service Hub, and Microsoft Office tools.
- Clean driving record and ability to rent vehicles in all 50 states and Canada.
