Summit Adds Dan Hills, Opens Traverse City Office

Paul Stewart

KEEGO HARBOR, Mich. -- Summit Technology Group, the Michigan-based software manufacturer and engineering consulting firm has added Dan Hills as Senior RF and Electrical Engineer. Formerly of Great Northern Broadcasting, Inc., Hills brings with him over two decades of broadcast engineering experience in radio and television. Hills is primarily responsible for managing and implementing engineering projects for Summit's radio and television clients throughout Michigan and parts of the Midwest.

"As our client base has grown in recent years, it was necessary to scale our staff to keep up," says Paul Stewart, President of Summit Technology Group. "Dan is the perfect fit and works well with our clients to achieve their engineering and operational goals."

This addition enables Summit Technology Group to expand its service offerings to provide AM, FM, and TV transmission system engineering, increased number of regulatory compliance and filing services, tower climbing, and studio and IT engineering. For years, Summit has provided comprehensive due diligence inspections and other services focused on regulatory compliance and broadcast engineering.

Since his April start date, Hills has worked in lockstep with Summit Technology Group's development team to offer guidance on workflows and new features aimed at improving the group's software offerings. Hills has spent much of his time advising on SideCAR, Summit's media logger with advanced AI and machine learning tools, and ATMOS, the company's automated weather report and forecast product.

"Summit's products are an excellent fit for even small- and medium radio markets," says Hills, "and being able to offer Summit's existing broadcast engineering and consulting resources to my home base is a welcome addition."

Summit Technology Group decided to open a regional office to provide a flexible and scalable space to best serve our clients. Located on the property of former WKLT/WKLZ, WSRT/WSRJ, and WFCX/WFDX, Summit's new office is located just walking distance from the downtown and the beautiful Grand Traverse Bay. Hills got his start 22 years ago at WKLT and recalls building the very studio space he occupies today.
